The normal body temperature in healthy people is between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius. From a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius it is a fever. Fever is measured at different parts of the body, although it should be noted that the temperature of the respective areas varies. The temperature value can be used when measuring:

• in the anus (rectal)
• under the tongue (oral)
• under the armpit (axillary)
• in the ear
• on the forehead

Measured rectally, the value is very close to the core body temperature. The heat radiation of the eardrum in the ear is also a good indicator. In the oral cavity, under the tongue or in the armpit, however, the temperature decreases. This also applies to the temperature of the skin surface, which is also influenced by the ambient temperature. Which Clinical Thermometers are There?

Different thermometers offer different uses. A measuring range of at least 35 - 42 degrees Celsius and a precise measurement result are important. Different measuring devices differ in handling, speed and accuracy. The predominantly digital devices have a display and emit a signal tone after the measurement. Radiated heat is infrared radiation. Infrared clinical thermometers do not have a measuring tip, but a lens that transfers the radiation to a sensor and converts it into an electronic signal. Devices with this measurement method are often used with small children because they provide quick and precise results without being uncomfortable for the child - like the measurement in the anus.

• - Infrared Ear Thermometer: The eardrum is well supplied with blood and emits heat radiation that can be easily measured. This is measured by the ear thermometer and shown on the display. The measurement takes place within seconds with high measurement accuracy.
• Infrared Forehead Thermometer: This device measures the infrared rays emitted by the head. The ambient temperature is taken into account when calculating the measured values. The forehead measurement is carried out by placing it on the surface or, depending on the product variant, contactlessly. The measuring speed of forehead thermometers is high, but the result is less precise than with other measuring methods.
