Elevated Toilet Seats – Aids for using the Toilet independently
An elevated toilet seat is a practical attachment for the toilet that allows the toilet seat to be elevated without complex conversion work. As a result, the toilet elevation makes it easier for seniors or those with restricted mobility to sit down and get up during this intimate everyday process. This is particularly useful for:
- people with reduced mobility due to age or illness
- people with hip damage / after hip surgery
- people with knee damage / after knee surgery
- elderly people who want to take preventive measures to relieve strain on their knees, hips and back
- nursing staff – for example, lifting a person from wheelchair to the toilet is easier with a raised toilet seat
In the Medicalcorner24® shop you will find a selection of different elevated toilet seats: with or without lid, with or without armrests, height-adjustable or in selectable fixed sizes and designed for different loads. You will also find comfortably padded toilet seats and soft toilet chair cushions for sitting without pressure points. Buy an elevated toilet seat online at Medicalcorner24®! You can buy an Elevated Toilet Seat in the following Variants
Here you see a summary of your options when choosing an elevated toilet seat. Find out more about the advantages of the individual variants. Some raised toilet seats basically offer the option of purchasing them with or without a toilet lid.
Elevated Toilet Seat to Hang Up
Thanks to the self-positioning properties, no permanent assembly is needed. The toilet attachment is simply placed on the toilet - it can be changed quickly and used on the move without any problems. Because armrests are often missing on these models, you might want to add a toilet support frame.
Elevated Toilet Seat to Clip On
Another flexible variant: it is usually supplied with rubber-coated clamps and is firmly clamped to the toilet and removed again when no longer needed. This guarantees stability while keeping full flexibility.
Raised Toilet Seat for Fastening with Screws
This type of toilet aid holds the fixing screws securely on the toilet bowl - even with heavy loads and during a long service life. In some cases, it can be attached without tools while a side slip protection provides additional stability.
Elevated Toilet Seat with Armrests
Partially foldable armrests make it unnecessary to mount safety support handles on the wall. They make it easier to get up and down and allow for more independence when using the toilet.
Height-Adjustable Elevated Toilet Seat
Some versions are height-adjustable, allowing you to comfortably adapt the raised toilet seat to your individual needs - this is especially advantageous if several different people use the rased toilet seat. For other models, you can choose the optimal height for your needs when ordering.
Raised Toilet Seat with Hygiene Recess
The cutout at the front and sometimes also at the back of the elevated toilet seat is a hand-sized hollow in the edge of the raised toilet seat. This hygiene cutout can be used to clean yourself after the emptying process while sitting.
What to look for when choosing an Elevated Toilet Seat
In order to find the best product for you, concentrate on three things before buying: height, material and body weight or resilience. Find the right height
Raised toilet seats can usually elevate the seat area of a toilet by 5 to 16 centimeters. Standard models often have a height of around 10 centimeters. Height-adjustable variants often have 3 levels, for example 8, 12 or 16 centimeters. To sit comfortably and securely, find a height that allows you to place both feet firmly on the floor while sitting on the toilet.
Choose suitable material
If the focus is not so much on the height, but on the padding, the ca. 2.5 centimeters high toilet chair cushions might be right for you. They are made of compressible foam that allows you to sit comfortably without marks or welts. A foil cover allows easy and hygienic cleaning. Soft toilet seats with padded lids and seats provide similar comfort. Elevated toilet seats made of soft foamed material with a skin-friendly plastic cover offer height and seating comfort at the same time. Stronger plastics are used where more stability and support is required. Stable, impact-resistant plastic can withstand heavy loads and is extremely durable. Smooth surfaces allow for easy cleaning.
Consider Body Weight
As a rule, an elevated toilet seat can withstand loads of around 100 to 130 kilograms. You can find out exactly what applies to your model in the manufacturer's information or in the product descriptions. For people with a higher body weight, there are also special models that can carry a weight of up to 225 kilograms.
Elevated Toilet Seat - Common Questions
Most models of elevated toilet seats are compatible with the common oval standard toilet bowls. Square ceramic toilet bowls or unusual designer variants can cause problems when installing or using a raised toilet seat.
The cost of a raised toilet seat depends primarily on the design: you can get a simple padded toilet seat cushion with ties for fastening for around 20 euros. A height-adjustable raised toilet seat with armrests that can be screwed on costs around 60 euros.
You can remove germs or clean your elevated toilet seat with a surface disinfectant and commercially available cleaning agents. Even if the toilet aids are mostly made of sturdy plastic, you should avoid using sharp, caustic or abrasive cleaning agents.
In our online shop you will find the entire spectrum of toilet aids: from padded foam toilet chair cushions to special models of raised toilet seats for maximum load capacity. You can purchase our products quickly and securely from our website and thus give people with restricted mobility more independence when using the toilet. Buy your raised toilet seat now!
