Product details for Luxury demonstration skull, 14 pieces, skull model from Erler Zimmer
This luxury demonstration skull from Erler Zimmer shows all anatomical structures in the highest detail.
This 14-piece skull model is a cast of a real human skull preparation and shows all anatomical structures in highest detail. It is designed for students of anatomy, medicine, surgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology and dentistry. The skull is complexly cut and joined together with metal and magnetic connections.
The skull roof is opened and removable but leaves the temporal bones and their sutures untouched. Bony impressions of the sagittal sinus, transverse sinus, and sigmoid sinus as well as the meningeal vessels are painted. The base of the skull is sagittally sectioned in such a way that the section on one side passes through one sieve plate and another section with the same plane passes through the other sieve plate of the ethmoid bone, leaving the christa galli and lamina perpendicularis intact as well as the entire nasal septum. The structures of the anterior, middle and posterior fossa are easily accessible. One can directly see the nasal cavity, turbinate, septum, as well as the bony pharynx and nasopharynx. The nasal septum can be removed from the surrounding bony structures. The frontal sinuses are dissected as a whole on one side and opened on the other side so that it is fully accessible. The relationship of this sinus to the nasal cavity can be clearly seen, this is particularly valuable for ENT physicians.
On one side of the skull, the temporal bone was left in situ. The other temporal bone is removable from the skull. Part of the mastoid process and the temporal bone scale together with the antrum mastoideum can be removed, providing an unobstructed view of the inner ear. All three arcades are visible along with the course of the facial nerve, which runs posteriorly and then downward, ultimately passing through the stylomastoid foramen. The removable temporal bone shows a complete external auditory canal. A nearly vertical section through the mastoid process and then further inward along the petrosquamosal fissure divides the temporal bone and the position of the tympanic membrane is seen. The canalis caroticus is opened, as is the cochlea, showing the internal auditory canal, and the course of the facial nerve can be seen. The oval window, the semicircular canals and the opening of the tympanic cavity are visible.
The maxilla and mandible show the structures of the dentition, the roots, the bony margin of the alveolar process, and dental nerves and vessels. The maxillary sinus can be opened by removing a flap. The teeth of the right mandibular flap are bisected to show the internal structures of the teeth.
